NexPress

P-L has recently completed the evaluation of unique, self-cleaning components for use in the pneumatic conveyance of powdered materials. The next step will be to incorporate the results of this evaluation into the design of one of our customer’s conveyance systems. The new design will permit rapid changeovers, (less than 30 minutes), between drastically different colored materials. This “lean” manufacturing technique will dramatically boost the client’s manufacturing productivity and flexibility. In addition, significant reductions are expected in the volume of the waste streams generated during the cleaning cycles.

BOC Edwards

P-L has recently started providing qualification testing services to a highly respected manufacturer of Lyophilization equipment, BOC Edwards. Our thorough attention to detail is resulting in the production of Lyo systems which are fully tested and ready for onsite validation.

Pactiv Corp

P-L has signed an 18 month relationship agreement with Pactiv Corporation, a leader in the field of specialty packaging materials. As part of this agreement, P-L will provide Pactiv with Automation Consulting Services, Programming, Instrumentation & Automation Systems Design, and Startup and Commissioning Services.

Stantec Engineering

P-L is continuing in its collaboration with Stantec Engineering to provide automation and process control consulting to the top pharmaceutical firms in the world.

Honeywell Speciality Materials

P-L is preparing to startup the burner management system we recently designed and implemented on a large 12 hearth retort at a Honeywell facility in Pennsylvania. In addition to the minimum set of interlocks required by NFPA 471, the new system will also provide individual control of the temperatures in 4 hearth zones, permitting optimal processing of the material and conservation of the total energy required.

J&J Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics

P-L recently completed preparing a detailed User Requirements Specification (URS) for a large software system re-design that OCD is considering. Our task was to dissect the functions of the current system, work with OCD’s user-community to decide which functions needed to be retained, which needed to be modified or updated, and which functions were no longer necessary. We then produced a URS document that specified all the required functionality, per GAMP 4 guidelines, so that the final system is capable of being validated in as direct a manner as possible.

NYS Canal Corp

Court Street Dam Project: Developed, installed, and successfully tested an angular measurement transmitter for accurately determining the crest height of the sector gates of the Court Street Dam. Currently providing technical consulting and serving as primary interface between the project’s SCADA, Valve Actuator and Electrical contractors. Also providing training, documentation and support to the Dam’s Operations Group.

Atofina Chemicals

Building 7 Reactor Safety Upgrade: Provided complete System Design Package to upgrade the controls and safety systems associated with an Organic Peroxides reactor. Included procurement of all instrumentation & system hardware, panel fabrication, providing PLC and Operator Interface Programming, and providing all services required to deliver a fully calibrated and functional system, ready for operation.

Cincinnati Airport

De-icing Fluid Recovery Project: Provided Instrumentation & Controls Engineering/Consulting Services for a turnkey Ethylene Glycol recovery & reclamation facility at the Cincinnati / Covington, KY Airport. Responsible for writing Project I&C and Software Specifications and overseeing the interface between various contractors and service providers on the project.

Packout Project: Provided Instrumentation & Controls Design, MMI Software and Validation Services for a new API Manufacturing & Packout Line. Modicon Quantum / Wonderware InTouch Platform.

Confidential Pharmaceutical MFG.

Plant B Upgrade: Provided systems engineering, design, programming and validation testing to upgrade a manually-operated bulk API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) plant to PLC controls. System architecture included 6 processors, 17 operator interfaces, and >1200 remote I/O points, distributed throughout 6 process areas. Scope of Services included conceptual and detailed design, spec’ing and bidding of components, writing of PLC and MMI software and providing construction support, start-up and IQ/OQ testing of the system. AB SLC Platform.

100 Complex HVAC Upgrade: Provided system validation writing and testing services. Wrote and executed IQ, OQ, and PQ protocols for fourteen Air Handling Units supplying conditioned & tempered air to cGMP manufacturing and warehouse facilities at Pearl River campus. Participated in air-balancing activities and performed Temp-Tale testing to document system performance.

B-185 South Expansion: Provided systems engineering, design and PLC programming for a pharmaceutical utilities facility which provided 800 GPM Hot Glycol, 800 GPM Cold Glycol, Breathing Air, USP Purified Water, and a Special Waste Handling System for a Bio-Processing Pilot Plant. Scope of Services included conceptual and detailed design, spec’ing and bidding of components, writing of PLC and MMI software and providing construction support and start-up of the system. B-185 Pilot Plant: Provided all process control system & instrumentation design work for a pharmaceutical grade R&D pilot plant. Scope of Services included conceptual and detailed design, spec’ing and bidding of components, writing software specifications and providing construction support and start-up of the system.
